SCOPE
Our scope was to undertake subgrade recycling & reuse to the extensive access road network to provide safe and stable access during the intensive construction phase.
KEY CHALLENGES
Challenging terrain with restricted access.
Notorious expansive black soils which require high technical and operational acumen.
Seasonal weather impacts
The remote location increased the challenges for supply chain logistics

SOLUTIONS
The technical and design team worked with the client to optimise the pavement design and develop a solution which would provide a robust and cost-effective, all-weather access track that could cater for the required axle loading. This required a selection of treatments to be applied to provide the performance required from the variable materials encountered.

OUTCOMES
Over 600,000m2 of pavement delivered for the construction phase and low maintenance network for the operational phase
Significant reduction in virgin material consumption and on-site earthworks providing carbon reduction
