SCOPE

Deliver improved pavement performance to a key haul road using cementitious binders and in-situ recycling techniques.

KEY CHALLENGES

  • A statewide shortage of cementitious binders and the covid lockdowns made logistics an extreme challenge in this remote area.

  • A very high binder application rate requiring multiple applications on a live mine site a key challenge.

  • The remote location increased the challenges for supply chain logistics

SOLUTIONS

An onsite binder storage system was implemented to mitigate binder delivery risks and supply chain interruption. A construction methodology was devised to ensure that the high binder application could be optimised without any impact to pavement performance.
