People & Culture - Zero Harm Hero

Zero harm

Zero Harm health, safety, employee management and culture.

At Hiway, Zero Harm is part of our DNA. While we have an industry leading performance, we are truly focused on creating an environment of Zero Harm in health, safety, wellbeing and the environment.

Zero Harm Culture

Zero Harm culture is at the centre of Hiway. As well as our health safety and wellbeing systems we have successfully deployed a series of programmes to drive our culture and approach to risks forward, never resting on our laurels. Our Stop-Think-Act, Zero Harm 2 and Where’s Ya Mate programs provide an extremely rounded approach to hazard awareness, risk mitigation and safety improvement. We also focus on wellbeing programmes, medical assessments to ensure our team are physically and mentally prepared to deliver outstanding service.

Our culture extends deep into environmental responsibility and belief. We strive to minimise our environmental impact with aggressive decarbonisation targets and a thirst for low carbon solutions. Our entire team are highly aware of our environmental and cultural commitments to our surrounds and our planet.

Zero Harm Management

Hiway's Zero Harm General Manager Mark Dexter, backed by a team of advisors, ensures health, safety, quality assurance, and environmental excellence. Enabling this function allows our management and technical teams to produce outstanding project results, minimising risk significantly. In 2023 we achieved Federal Safety Council (FSC) Accreditation in Australia along with New Zealand’s highest possible certification for ACC WSMP.
